Session One | Access Master – OTDR Installation and Maintenance of Current and Future Fiber Network

Continuous deployment and upgrade of Access, Metro and Core networks including FTTx/PON networks requires a portable high-efficient Optical Time Domain Reflectometer, the Access Master MT9085x, able to cover short fibers of a few meters to long fibers of more than 100 km, multiple PON splitters with Pass/Fail threshold values at each splitter and multi-pulse accurate loss and reflection measurements.

Session Two | Network Master Pro – PTP/SyncE Synchronization Measurements in Fiber Networks

Mobile networks continue to evolve as standards for transport and synchronization tests, such as Ethernet, eCPRI/RoE/CPRI/OBSAI, SyncE and PTP. With an easily configured modular design to support changing network standards and an easy-to-use GUI, the Network Master Pro MT1000A is perfect for transport and PTP/SyncE synchronization measurements in fiber networks.

Session Three | Network Master Pro – Efficient Testing of High-Speed Wired Networks up to 400G

High-speed fiber networks and Data Centers are growing at a rapid pace due to the spread of 5G services, teleworking, etc. With connectivity, bandwidth, Quality of Service and service-related test functions, the Network Master Pro MT1040A is ideal for commissioning and troubleshooting Ethernet networks at speeds up to 400G.

Session Four | Spectrum Analysis and Interference Hunting on the Background of Modern Communication Technologies

The development from the historical radio interference receiver to the modern and portable Stepped FFT Heterodyne Realtime Spectrum Analyzer with broadband baseband streaming took the last 10 years and can probably only be seen as an intermediate step towards even more software-oriented architectures.

Based on this statement, the development and architectures of modern spectrum analyzers are briefly discussed and concluded with demonstrations of the measurement options on LTE Advanced and 5G NR communication standards.

Session Five | Gated Sweep - A Tool for the Detection and Localization of 5G Uplink Disturbances in the Time Domain

Earlier this year it was reported that around 72% of the population of the EU27 member states are covered with 5G NR. More than 256,000 gNBs have now been put into operation. 5G has thus reached our everyday lives. Buzzwords such as high-speed transmission, extremely low latency and ultra-high reliability determine the daily discussion. It is the first time that Time Division Duplex (TDD) networks have a cross-country presence.

The public and private 5G network operators are now faced with the challenge of minimizing interference with one another, as well as interference from their own operations with other services, e.g. with the radar altimeter. Since transmission and reception take place on the same frequency, troubleshooting must now be carried out at specific time intervals. Gated Sweep is the tool of choice for solving these problems. Based on a real disturbance scenario, the lecture shows the application of this technology to detect and localize a disturbance.
